Join me virtually
Saturday, April 3rd 10am-1pm Eastern
for "A Quilter's Doodles" Mini Workshop via ZOOM
A 3 hour learning adventure ...
-- for the fun of it!
***
The lecture series boosted your basics, now let's get busy with fabric, needle and thread.
***
Doodling allows us to learn and grow without the pressure of perfection.
I'll draw and demo a few fun shapes, like paisley, pebbles, loops and arcs. Then it's your turn -- I'll be there to guide and give feedback.
***
We'll play with fabric, needle and thread with no pressure to be perfect!
In the lecture series we ran though various options for machines and feet. Now it's time to choose a foot and get it on your machine. Install the foot prior to the Bonus Workshop so you're not stumped during the session. Your machine manual is great help when purchasing or attaching a new foot. An open or closed toe foot should work great for our doodle stitching.
You'll need 2 fat quarters of solid quilt shop quality fabric. A good quality muslin, Bella Solid, or a Grunge fabric would work beautifully. Trim the top fabric to 17 x 20 -- leave the bottom 18 x 21. I would LOVE for you to try Quilter's Dream Wool batting and for enrolling in the lecture BUNDLE I'll send you a Fat Quarter of Dream Wool with any purchase on my website. (Be sure to use the 15% discount code you rec'd by enrolling!!)
My favorite thread for Doodling is Aurifil 28wt in bright colors! Be sure to check my website for A Quilter's Doodles 28wt 5 pack thread set. Aurifil 50wt is perfect for the bobbin. No 28wt? 40wt or 50wt will work just fine.
Let's not forget the needles. If you're using Aurifil 28wt on top be sure to pickup size 90/14 Superior Titanium Coated Topstitch Needles. The Assortment Pack of Superior Topstitch needles are great to have too!
As part of the mini workshop, I'll be sending you a couple of of suggested doodle designs via PDF. You may choose to mark them on your fabric. To do so I suggest using a purple or blue water soluble pen or a #2 lead pencil. Be sure to check my shop for options.
